John Gorton Drive and Molonglo River Bridge

The completion of John Gorton Drive, including the Molonglo River bridge, will support significant land releases in Molonglo, including the full development of Denman Prospect, Whitlam and the Molonglo Group Centre. The proposed new bridge will span 227.5 metres across the region’s major river. It will also be built above a one in one-hundred-year flood in Molonglo River, and will significantly improve traffic safety.

The project consists of upgrading and improvement of existing John Gorton drive road and Bridge across the Molonglo River Bridge and accompanying civil works to facilitate and ease of traffic mainly at two road intersections.

Commercial & Infrastructure has been engaged by SMEC Australia in agreement with the Principal to undertake assessment of variation no. 1 – Bus Priority access submitted by BMD for the Contract. We have assessed the allowances made in Variation 1 under the contract using a first principles forensic costing approach and has provided a report of our review and recommendations to SMEC.
